GHA Gets First Female Chairman

A former  health education development manager has become the  Grampian-Houston Association first female Chairman.  Mrs Margaret Hadley, of Cults, Aberdeen,  has taken over the post from  Jimmy Hay.

After attending Aberdeen High School for Girls, she trained as a teacher and taught at schools in Aberdeen before being appointed  principal teacher of guidance at Westhill Academy.

She was later appointed  development officer for heath education in Grampian Region  and for four years she served as Grampian Health Board’s school and young people’s programme manager.

From 1972-75 she was  a member of  Aberdeen County Council representing  Echt and Skene Ward.

In taking over the GHA chair, Margaret is following in the footsteps of her husband,  Dr Geoffrey Hadley, a past President and Chairman of the Association, who was Convener of Grampian Regional Council from 1986-90.

Prominent among her  interests are conservation and cricket.
