Thanksgiving Day Guest Speaker

Guest speaker at Grampian-Houston Association’s 2009 Thanksgiving Day dinner in Aberdeen will be Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar Julie Anne Kenneally, a graduate of Elon University, North Carolina.

Julie (pictured), from Marshfield, Massachusetts,  is currently studying for a Master of Science post-graduate degree in strategic studies of war theories at Aberdeen University.

She will address the Thanksgiving dinner being held at the Royal Northern and University Club, Aberdeen, on Thursday, 26 November, 2009.

After graduating in political science and international studies at Elon, Julie gained a $24,000 scholarship to continue her studies at Aberdeen University. Her undergraduate thesis was on media coverage of female suicide terrorism and she has presented research on suicide terrorism to the North Carolina Political Association and an International Studies Association conference.

Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarships were introduced in 1947 to help fund degree-oriented study in another country.

Tickets (£35.50) for the Thanksgiving dinner are available from Mrs Marlene McLeod, tel. Aberdeen 319322 or e-mail im.mcleod@btinternet.com
