JAZZ LUNCH 2015

Councillor Ron McKail, Chairman of the Grampian-Houston Association welcomed a company of more than 90 at the Association’s annual Jazz Lunch at the Norwood Hall Hotel, Aberdeen on Sunday, 8 February.

A new feature of the event this year was an auction and raffle of items donated by local businesses. More than £1400 was raised towards the cost of sending two student nurses from Aberdeen on a two-week study visit to Houston in September, 2015.

Guest speaker at our 2015 Thanksgiving dinner was Diane Bruxvoort, Aberdeen University Director and Librarian. who spent 27 years in the library service in the Houston area before moving to the University of Florida and then to the University of Aberdeen in 2014.

She entertained the company with her recollections of Thanksgiving celebrations in her native Iowa and in Houston. She was thanked by Grampian-Houston Association Chairman Brett Jackson who presented her with a Celtic brooch.
